What Color Shoes to Wear With Lavender

Purple was a big trend last Spring (it was the color of the year) and it is a color that is still going strong this year!!  I did a Purple Shoesday post last year on how to Style Purple shoes, but per a reader request I though we might revisit the topic again this Spring!!  The looks I created last Spring all still work so if you are looking for even more inspiration you should check out that post too!!  From pale lilac to deep violet every hue is there.  For this post I've created a look for every day of the week (all with the same pair of shoes) to take you from the board room to the break room and everywhere in between.  #MondayToFridayDone

How to Wear Purple Shoes

You can wear purple shoes with nearly any color but if you want to keep it low-risk opt for monotone or matching.  Here are a few inspiration images from Pinterest that showcase these two concepts.

To go a little bolder choose complementary colors or mixed patterns.  I love all of these examples and even though the last one does not have purple shoes – I loved the tan and purple combination too much to not showcase this look (just add purple shoes to complete the look).  Again, all these images were taken from Pinterest.

Now that I have you fully inspired … let's see what styling looks like with pieces from my closet.  #ShoeStyling

Classic Sheath (with a twist)

Last year I opted for classic sheath as the easy look – this year I picked separates-as-dress to create the same effect. I chose Navy pinstripes (does it get any more classic) but black or grey work too.  And almost any shade of purple will work for the shoes – pick the hue that works best with your skin tone!

Pattern Matching

This look is still fairly safe.  Find a print that coordinates with your shoes; add a neutral if you need to.  Done.  This would work with a dress (all pattern) or pants and skirts (add the neutral).  Your neutral can be any color but for Spring I like lighter colors like these Khaki Oshima Pants.

Analogous Colors

Feeling even more daring.  I created an Ombre effect mixing pinks and purples.  I love how the colors are a similar palette with just subtle color differences.

Complementary Colors

Feeling bold? Opt for complementary colors (opposite colors).   I went with turquoise and purple but you could go with Purple and Red / Purple and Orange / Purple and Yellow … you get the idea.  #BeBold

Go Casual

Here is another example of both pattern matching and analogous colors combined.  I've picked a patterned blazer (which doesn't actually have the purple color in it, it just seems like it should) and an adjacent color (in this case blue) to create the perfect casual Friday or Saturday brunch look.
